Healthy cooking with children in Základní škola Nové Město nad Metují (part 5)

Last week  we baked in the cooking club some healthy oat cookies with fairtrade cacao for the fairtrade baking competition of Decko Nachod on Saturday the 13th of May. The children enjoyed it and they also won the 3rd place in the kids category 🙂

Here is the recipe for all the interested people:

Ingredients (for 1 baking plate):

  • 100g grounded almonds
  • 125g soft butter
  • 125g honey
  • 100g flour (you can even use wholegrain flour to make it more healthy)
  • 100g oats
  • 2 spoons of cacao
  • 1 pinch of salt and cinnamon

Preparation:

  1. Mix the butter, honey and spices.
  2. Add the flour, oats and almonds and knead it to a dough.
  3. Shape the dough to little balls and squeeze them flat on the baking plate.
  4. Bake the cookies for around 12min at 175°.

Healthy cooking with children in Základní škola Nové Město nad Metují (part 4)

This week I decided to show the children how to do an easy, healthy and tasty breakfast – porridge with fruits. They enjoyed it because they know the dish before but not how to do it.
Here the recipe for the interested people:

Ingredients:
200g oats (fine)
600-800ml milk
2 bananas
2 apples
Cinnamon

cooking:
Cut the apples and bananas in small pieces.
Then mix the oats with the milk and cinnamon and heat it. Let it cook for around 10min at low heat. When the porridge get stir, because the oats soak up all the milk you can turn the heating off and add the fruits – ready is the porridge. If the porridge gets to dry you can add more milk.

Tip: You can use also others fruits and add some nuts if you like.

Healthy cooking with children in Základní škola Nové Město nad Metují (part 3)

On the 28th of March I cooked with the children in the cooking club a millet salad with pork, carrots an balkan cheese. It was something new for them but they really liked it 🙂

Here the recipe for everybody who is interested:

Ingredients:

  • 250g millet
  • 1 pork
  • 4 carrots
  • 0,5 big glas of beet root
  • 120g Balkancheese
  • oil and vinegar
  • Pepper, salt and parsley (according to the taste)

cooking:

  1. Cook the millet.
  2. Cut the pork and carrots into slices and steam them with a bit of water for around 10 minutes.
  3. Cut the beetroot in little pieces.
  4. Mix the millet with the vegetables, cheese, some oil, vinegar and the spices in the the end.

Tip: You can serve the salat with sesame.

 

Skicamp with 7th grade of Základní škola Nové Město nad Metují

Last week, the 7th grade went to Herlikovice for a skicamp and I could join them. We had a lot of fun together. Everday from Mondy to Thursday, we went skiing. The students were divided in three groups after their skiing skills. Often I drove with the best group, but sometimes I also help the beginners. All students did a good progress of their skiing skills during this week. But beside skiing we went also one half day cross-country skiing and  one half day hiking in Spindlerluv Myln. In the evening, the teachers prepared some theorie about skiing and we played some funny games. The nice week was so really fast over and never boring. I’m very glad that I could join them.

Healthy cooking with children in Základní škola Nové Město nad Metují (part 2)

On 25th of January I prepared again a healthy dish for the cooking club. This time I cooked with the children pasta with a tomatoe-vegetable-sauce. The children enjoyed the cooking, because they like it when I prepare something new for them.

For all who are also interested in tasty, fast and healthy dishes, here the recipe:

Ingredients (4 portions):

  • 500g Pasta
  • 500g sieved tomatoes
  • 250g Peas
  • 2-3 carrots
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 pinch of basil, oregano, sugar, salt and pepper
  • oil for frying

Cooking:

  1. cook the pasta
  2. cut the vegetables in small pieces
  3. fry the onion, garlic and carrots around 5 minutes
  4. add to the fried vegetables the sieved tomatoes, peas, herbs and spieces and cook it for 5-10 minutes. Don’t forget to stir it from time to time
  5. In the end to can mix the pasta with the sauce and serve it with some grated cheese of you wish

Skiing and puppet show in Žďárky

On Wednesday  1. of February the whole school of Žďárky went outside to ski and those who don´t have skis or just didn´t want to go went sliding on the hill near to school.

On the next day 02.02, whole school gathered together to družina with nursery children and we watched a puppet show made by one woman. Although I didn´t understand very much of it, it was still funny.

School trip to theatre of Základní škola Žďárky

On the 24. of January the whole school of Žďárky went to theatre in Náchod to watch “Chovej se jako člověk” (“behave like a human”). I thought that we are going to watch some theatre play, but it was more like a concert. As much as I understood their songs were about courtesy, manners and things like that. Children seemed to like it, because most of them were actively doing along the movements what were shown in the stage.
